Preparation Date: September 26, 2006
Need(s):
1. The chapter needs to generate a positive cash flow and maintain this flow to meet their financial obligations.
2. The chapter needs to improve its public image and its relationship with the local community.
3. The chapter needs to repair significant code violations and make needed renovations to upgrade the existing building.
4. There needs to be improved communication between the alumni organization and the active brotherhood as well as between the alumni executive board and the active alumni.
5. The chapter needs to actively pursue new memberships and update the present pledge education program.
6. The alumni executive board needs to develop a written business plan, long- and short-term goals, and governing policies. Additionally, to meet the growing needs of the chapter there needs to be additional alumni positions (i.e., alumni representative to the chapter, Alumni House Manager)
Strength(s):
The chapter has a membership of about nine hundred alumni and about 33 active members.
The Beta Psi Housing Association is a legal non-profit corporation with an elected board.
Sigma Pi Fraternity Beta Psi Chapter is the oldest active Fraternity at East Stroudsburg University.
The Beta Psi Housing Association owns the property at 12 Smith Street, East Stroudsburg, PA.
The alumni association has a wealthy of experience and wisdom in its members.
The chapter is recognized by East Stroudsburg University.

What alumni make up beta psi housing association? Legally on paper who controls the house?
I don't know who made it up but its is on the original mortgage (1970). And is the name in which the deed is in. It is the legal name that our non-profit non-stock corp. operates under. The current executive board is legally who has control of the organization.

It is not complicated, there is no non-profit, non-stock corporation unless there are name of the controling parties.

You asked what was on the deed and you got it. If it is truly a non-profit organization, it must be registered somewhere. Go look.
The name of the deed is Beta Psi Housing Association. The names on the mortgage is Martin, Bechtel, Devlin, and Richardson. The current exec. board is Bechtel, Sonon, Devlin, Lou M. We will be making addendum to the By-laws to appoint three older alumni to the board of directors. Joe Devlin has the original articles of incorp. You will have to ask him the names on the document.

I want to inform you that the Grand Council has voted to revoke the chapter charter of the Beta Psi chapter effective immediately.
The revocation comes as a result of failure to properly report membership, infractions regarding our national policies of risk management with alcohol and hazing and failure to submit the chapters insurance premium which was past due on November 10th.
I have been in contact with the University and they are aware of our actions.
I attempted to contact the Chapter Sage, Ian Hughes, by telephone today but he was not available. I have left a message for him to return my call so he can be informed of our action.
It would probably be in the best interest of the Beta Psi alumni to secure any chapter property that is at the chapter house. This can be retained by the alumni or shipped to the National Headquarters for safe keeping. Upon reactivation of the chapter in the future all items will be returned.
We regret having to take such severe action but the behavior of the chapter has left us no recourse.

So the new date for founders day/ save the house meeting is set for the weekend of February 24th. Can we please get a mailer from email sent out on this to have many numbers show at the house. it needs to be this date. We need to keep the traditions moving along and get the ball rolling asap. We cannot afford to wait any longer.
